Dual Perimeter Weighting: The Technology Powering PXG’s Most Adjustable Irons

Since the original 0311 GEN1, PXG has engineered irons with a single focus - unlock performance through innovative technologies and precision fitting. That means correcting mishits, improving consistency, finding more distance, and optimizing launch and spin for how you actually swing the golf club.

With our latest irons technology breakthrough, we’ve pushed that engineering philosophy to the limit.  PXG 0311 GEN8 Irons are the most adjustable irons we've ever built. And it's all thanks to a revolutionary new weighting system that lets fitters dial in your performance like never before. We call it Dual Perimeter Weighting. Here's why it changes everything about how irons can be fit.

What Is Dual Perimeter Weighting?

Dual Perimeter Weighting places adjustable mass at both the heel and toe of the iron, rather than in a single fixed position. This gives fitters precise control over how the clubhead behaves through impact.

By adjusting weight position and mass, PXG fitters can influence:

  • Shot shape bias
  • Launch conditions
  • Spin rates
  • Stability and dispersion

The result is true performance tuning, not just static forgiveness. Dual Perimeter Weighting gives PXG fitters even more control over both forgiveness and ball flight without changing your swing.

Adjusting Flight Bias During a Fitting

GEN8 irons come standard with two 5g weights, with additional options from 2g to 12g in 1g increments. A PXG fitting lets you experience how small weight changes immediately influence shot shape and ball flight.

For golfers who pull or hook shots, toe-side weighting can help stabilize the clubhead and slow face rotation through impact. Conversely, heel-side weighting can help golfers who push or slice the ball by promoting a more timely face closure.

Why This System Changes Fitting

Dual Perimeter Weighting doesn't work in isolation-it's designed to be part of a complete custom fitting where loft, lie, shaft, and weighting are optimized together.

Traditionally, shot shape characteristic has been controlled by lie angle during a fitting. This could potentially result in a non-optimal turf interaction to achieve the desired draw or fade. This dual perimeter weighting system allows for shot shape to be controlled while maintaining your optimal lie angle.

This allows PXG fitters to:

  • Optimize your launch and spin without changing your swing
  • Fine-tune shot shape bias with precision, not guesswork
  • Build irons that perform on the course as they did in your fitting

We're not chasing "ideal" numbers from a chart. We're building clubs that respond to your swing and deliver consistent, repeatable performance round after round.

The Complete Package - GEN8 Technologies Unlock Performance

0311 GEN8 Irons bring together powerful technologies to optimize your swing.

  • Dual Perimeter Weighting for total adjustability
  • Ultra-thin face technology for maximum ball speed
  • Internal QuantumCor polymer for speed, sound and feel
  • Deep Core Recoil Technology for optimized energy transfer
  • Power Channel for higher launch

Each technology is powerful alone. Together, they create PXG's most complete iron—engineered to be custom fit and fine-tuned for how you actually play.
