We asked fellow PXG Ambassador and golf coach, Alex Riggs, to share helpful putting tips to lower those dreaded three-putt massacres. Watch as Alex Riggs uses ordinary golf equipment to create helpful putting drills to lower your scores and consistently find the bottom of the cup.
Hello, everyone. My name is Alex Riggs, and today I’m going to give you an exercise to help you fine tune your skills with those short putts.
The best way for us to get more precise in this part of the game is to actually work on narrowing our focus. As you can see, I’ve got two tees here. And what I’m going to do is I’m going to place these in front of the hole, making the hole smaller. Now you might ask, “Why would I make the game harder than it is?” And this is really just for us to train that start line. So start in close and then work your way back. I might only start at two feet away from the hole. But then by bringing the hole in, I’m going to have to become more precise with my putt. I’ll get the putter aimed inside the gate and work on these short ones.
Okay. Now this is something that you can do and progress backwards. But again, having that narrower target is really going to help you to increase the number of short putts you make on the golf course.
