We checked in with former LPGA Player and current PXG Ambassador Anna Rawson to find out how we can pick up a few extra yards with a nice, controlled draw off the tee.

“Okay. So let’s talk about how much I love this GEN4 Driver: it’s amazing; it goes a mile. And I tend to hit a big draw, so today I want to teach you how to do that.

There are basically three things you want to think about.

EMPLOY A STRONG GRIP TO PROMOTE A DRAW

The first swing thought when I’m setting up to make sure I hit a big draw, I want to make sure my grip is strong. You can’t hit a draw from a weak grip.

So that’s kind of neutral. You want to have your left hand a little bit over so that it will help create that inside-out swing path.

TUCK IN YOUR TRAILING ELBOW

The second thing is alignment. You want to make sure that this elbow’s tucked so that you have the ability to swing inside out. If this elbow’s this way, you’re going to have the opposite path on the swing. So I really think about my alignment. I want this elbow tucked, and this shoulder pointed to the right side of the fairway.

WORK ON AN INSIDE-TO-OUTSIDE SWING PATH

And then the last thing is really just trusting swinging out to the right. And it’s hard to do because you think, “Oh shoot, I’m going to hit it way right.” But it won’t, it’ll draw back into the middle of the fairway.

So, it’s a little bit of a trust thing. So that’s all I do. I think about those three things:

  1. A stronger grip
  2. Tuck your elbow
  3. Swing out to the right

Kaboom baby!
